Lake Mead Waives Entrance Fees This Weekend

Lake Mead National Recreation Area is waiving entrance fees this Saturday, June 9th, to celebrate “National Get Out Doors Day. There are many activities going on at the recreation area tomorrow to help bring the celebration to life. There will be a beach clean up at Calville Bay, Park Rangers will be giving informal talks throughout the area, and the Western National Park Association store is offering a 15% discount on merchandise, just to name a few. Lake Mead National Recreation Area, offers many commercial services such as boat rentals, lodging, tours, cruises and rafting trips.

President Obama has named June, “National Get Outdoors Month” and encourages Americans to appreciate the beauty of outdoors. In its fifth year, “National Get Out Doors Day” is recognized nationwide by hundreds of organizations and businesses who team up with Federal, state, and local agencies to get more people to appreciate and enjoy the outside. “Outdoor physical activity is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and Lake Mead National Recreation Area is a great place for fun and relaxation on and off the water,” said William Dickinson, Superintendent of Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Normal entrance fees for Lake Mead National Recreation Area are $10 for a weekly vehicle pass or $30 for an annual vehicle pass. The fee waiver is only for entrance to the area all other recreational fees still apply. The next time Lake Mead Recreational Area will waive fees will be September 29th for National Public Lands Day.
