Happy Park(ing) Day

Don’t be alarmed today when you see parking meters transformed into temporary public places. Park(ing) Day was established in 2005 by Rebar,  a San Fransisco art and design studio and it has now become a global movement. (independently from Rebar but still follows a set of guidelines.)

“The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat … at least until the meter runs out!”

Las Vegas’ Park(ing) Day will take place in the Fremont East District, Juhl, and the Downtown Arts District from 8 am till 6 pm today.
